LDM-MED Program

What is LDM-MED?

LDM-MED is a skin rejuvenation system by Wellcomet of Germany. LDM stands for Local Dynamic Micro-massage — a micro-level massage of the tissue delivered by sound waves.

It works by switching rapidly between ultrasound frequencies, producing fine mechanical vibration at cellular level that prompts the skin's own repair processes and collagen production. Because nothing is wounded or ablated, LDM-MED is a treatment that can be repeated often, requires no downtime, and suits sensitive or reactive skin.

How LDM-MED Works?

Conventional ultrasound delivers a single steady frequency. LDM alternates between two frequencies every 1-10 milliseconds — faster than cells and tissue can adapt to.

Each time the frequency shifts, the size of the micro-massage unit within the tissue changes with it: from 0.75 mm down to 0.25 mm moving from 1 to 3 MHz, and from 0.25 mm down to 0.075 mm moving from 3 to 10 MHz. These rapid pressure changes are the mechanical stimulus acting on the skin — a different mechanism from heat-based treatments, and one a single fixed frequency cannot reproduce.

Each frequency reaches a different depth, so the practitioner selects the applicator and frequency to match the layer being addressed.

  • 10 MHz — works superficially at around 0.3 cm, addressing the upper skin layers, hydration and texture
  • 3 MHz — reaches around 1 cm, into the dermis where collagen-producing cells sit
  • 1 MHz — reaches as deep as around 3 cm, into the subcutaneous layer

Two sonotrodes are available: a 3/10 MHz head for superficial to mid-depth work, and a 1/3 MHz head where greater depth is needed.

Water-Drop Therapy

The signature LDM-MED programme, built specifically around skin hydration, in three parts:

  • Drop-Lock — improves the skin's ability to hold moisture
  • Drop-Control — balances skin with uneven oil production
  • Drop-Lifting — works towards smoother, firmer skin

Who LDM-MED Is For?

Aesthetic concerns

  • Dry, dehydrated skin, loss of elasticity, dull or tired-looking skin
  • Fine lines, nasolabial folds and early laxity
  • Enlarged pores and uneven texture
  • Stretch marks and cellulite

Dermatological concerns

  • Inflammatory and comedonal acne, and acne marks
  • Facial flushing and rosacea
  • Chronically inflamed skin
  • Acne scars, other scarring and hypertrophic scars, subject to the doctor's assessment
  • Bruising and swelling following an impact

LDM-MED is particularly well suited to sensitive or reactive skin, and to anyone hesitant about higher-energy treatments, since it stimulates the skin mechanically rather than through heat or controlled injury.

Sessions and Treatment Time

  • Approximately 10-30 minutes per session, depending on the area and the concern being treated
  • Recommended once or twice per week
  • Improvements in hydration and skin tone are often noticeable after the first session, while firmness and inflammatory skin conditions build over a course of treatments
  • Normal daily activity can resume immediately afterwards, with no downtime

Individual results will vary depending on skin condition, age and aftercare.

Published Research

LDM technology has been examined in several peer-reviewed papers, largely around its anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic effects.

  • Redness and skin barrier — a retrospective study of 42 patients with rosacea resistant to other treatments reported significant improvement in erythema index, transepidermal water loss and patient self-assessment scores (Dermatologic Surgery, 2018).
  • Post-surgical swelling and bruising — a study using the LDM-MED device in 24 patients after rhinoseptoplasty, treated daily for five consecutive days, reported reduced perilesional edema and ecchymosis (Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2024).
  • Slow-healing wounds — a retrospective series of 8 patients treated with LDM-MED for recalcitrant post-surgical wounds reported improved epithelialisation (Journal of the Korean Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, 2018).

These are small and largely retrospective studies, so they represent supporting evidence rather than settled conclusions.

Individual results will vary.

Combining With Other Treatments

Because LDM-MED creates no wound and no accumulated heat, it can be scheduled alongside other programmes — for instance after a laser or radiofrequency treatment, to support the skin while it recovers. Your doctor will plan the combination and timing that suits you.

Please Consult the Doctor First If You

  • Are pregnant
  • Have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device
  • Have implants near the treatment area
  • Have an infection or an unhealed wound in the treatment area
  • Have a history of cancer
  • Have a bleeding disorder or take anticoagulant medication

This list covers the main precautions only. Full suitability is assessed by the doctor at your appointment.

Consult Dr. Supranee to assess whether this programme is suitable for your skin concerns.

Dr. Supranee consults every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 13.00-18.00
